An EDATA Areawide Water Quality Plan, 1977
In 1977, Eastgate (then EDATA), as authorized by the Governor of the State of Ohio, coordinated efforts to develop the original 208 Areawide Water Quality Plan pursuant of Section 208 of the Clean Water Act for Mahoning and Trumbull Counties. The plan's emphasis primarily concentrated on the design and construction of wastewater treatment facilities. The original plan essentially laid the groundwork to ensure public investments in wastewater treatment facilities were planned according to growth trends and effective at enhancing water quality. In addition, the plan's design prevented conflicts that might have arisen between local jurisdictions. The plan also estimated construction costs for the provision of wastewater facilities designed to serve a 1995 projected population of 673,171 for Mahoning and Trumbull Counties.
