In 1999, Eastgate lead an effort to update the region's 208 Water Quality Management Plan (WQMP). Eastgate met with principal municipal representatives, sanitary engineers, and resource agencies to redefine the 201 Facility Planning Area (FPA) boundaries and to assign appropriate wastewater treatment planning prescriptions to each 201 FPA. The current 201 FPAs represent sewer planning areas according to existing and future development trends, watershed boundaries and/or both.
In order for the 208 Plan to represent the current visionary environmental and development goals of our region, the plan must be regularly updated. By Law, the Ohio EPA cannot issue a Permit-To-Install for sanitary sewer extension or an National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit in conflict with Eastgate's current 208 Plan. The plan's elements are considered current if they have proceeded through and are accepted by Eastgate's three governing bodies: Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), Citizens Advisory Board (CAB), and General Policy Board (GPB). Once an element of the plan is adopted, it is sent to the Ohio EPA's Central Office for inclusion in the State of Ohio's Water Quality Management Plan.
