An Air Quality Advisory has been declared for Saturday, June 16th as Ozone leves are expected to be Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups. A summary of the conditions that are forecast are as follows:
  • A strong upper-level ridge of high pressure will begin to build over the region on Friday and will persist through the weekend, reducing mixing in the atmosphere.
  • This ridge will also produce mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid- to upper-80s, enhancing ground-level ozone formation.
  • Southwesterly winds will develop Saturday through Monday, bringing additional pollutants into the region.
Given the multi-day stretch of conditions that are ideal for ozone production, day-to-day pollutant carryover will also be a major factor. Conditions will continue to be monitored as the advisory is expected to extend into Sunday.
