On June 19th and 20th Eastgate’s Directors Joann Esenwein, Director of Planning and Ken Sympson, Director of Transportation joined area business and community leaders on the Regional Chamber’s D.C. Fly-In.  The Mahoning Valley delegation met with members of the Ohio Congressional delegations in the Library of Congress and advocated for a missile defense site at Camp Hames A. Garfield, the Youngstown Air Reserve Station and the revitalization of the Mahoning River.

Congressman Tim Ryan kicked the meeting off followed by Congressman Anthony Gonzalez, Congressman David Joyce, Senator Sherrod Brown, Senator Rob Portman and Congressman Bill Johnson.

On day two the group met in the Indian Treaty room in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building of the White House, where Tim Pataki, Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Public Liaison; Dr. Peter Navarro, Director of the Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy; and Robert Blair, Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor to the Chief of Staff spoke to the group about Camp Garfield, YARS, the Mahoning River, BUILD, and GM Lordstown’s concerns regarding the trade agreement.

It was a very successful trip and we are looking forward to participating again next year.
